Emily Molnar

Emily Molnar is a graduate of the National Ballet School and a former member of the National Ballet of Canada, Frankfurt Ballet - where she created and developed an extensive repertoire under Director William Forsythe, and most recently as a principal dancer with Ballet British Columbia. Emily worked closely with Ballet BC Artistic Director John Alleyne in the creation of Puck in The Fairie Queen and Persephone in Orpheus.

In 2003 she was named Artist in Residence at Arts Umbrella where she also acts as Rehearsal Director for their Junior Dance Company, movement coach and creative process teacher.

Focusing on her future as a choreographer and solo artist, Emily has been creating and developing her own voice and movement style. She also continues to work with mentor/collaborator Margie Gillis, both performing Margie’s work, Speak and working together on Breathing in Bird Bones.

She has created and performed works for Dancing on the Edge (Nolens Volens), a choral solo Yes, she was... with funding from the Canada and BC Council for the Arts, and has just premiered Anatomy of Randomness, the final piece in a trilogy. Emily is working towards producing this trilogy as a solo evening SubSilence in May 2005, with film and new composition by longtime collaborator, soundscape artist Gordon Cobb. In February she completed a work for seven men, Portrait of a Suspended Grace, for Alberta Ballet and recently worked with John Turturro on his upcoming film Romance and Cigarettes.
