History

History of The Norman Rothstein Theatre

A Word of Welcome

Keeping with tradition, the heart of Chutzpah! is once again the artists.

Gathered under Chutzpah!'s wonderful eclectic umbrella of Jewish culture we have performers and creators that truly reflect the multi-cultural essence of Chutzpah!, a festival that is not afraid to bring artist and audience together to explore the realm of human expression through music, dance and theatre.

Artistic creation epitomizes dedication, perseverance, risk-taking and often comes at great sacrifice to the artist, emotionally, physically and more often than not, financially. As an audience we can support the artist and his/her important work by simply showing up to their shows. And during a festival such as this, by showing up to a lot of their shows!

It's all here... a roster of wonderful local, national and international performers, great theatres in the middle of a community centre that has a cultural heart beat bursting with multi-generational energy, and an array of good, professional art for all of the Lower Mainland to experience.

Welcome to Chutzpah! The Lisa Nemetz International Showcase of Jewish Performing Arts. It's our sixth year and we're proud of it!
