Miri Levi Biography
After being accepted at musical theatre schools in London, New York and Toronto, Levi decided to attend New York University's prestigious musical theatre program. Before beginning her studies there, she spent ten months living in Israel on a program run through the summer camp she had continued to attend through her childhood. This time was very important in influencing her personal ideology and outlook on the world. But she missed singing! Her first year in New York was incredible. Levi took full advantage of all that the city had to offer, seeing all the major shows on Broadway and even attending the Tony Awards. After studying in both the drama and music departments at NYU, Levi decided to focus all her attention on musical theatre. She left NYU and enrolled at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, an intensive, two year course of study in singing, dancing and acting. Here she explored aspects of the craft that she had not previously studied including tap, jazz and theatre dance as well as techniques for acting.
Levi graduated in May, 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. She then participated in Symphonic Workshops in Bulgaria, playing the role of Cherubino and covering the role of Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. She also performed the role of Oskar in The Masked Ball. Following this, Levi covered the roles of Michaela, Mercedes and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. Additionally, Levi performed as a soloist and ensemble member with Festive Voices on a summer tour of Bulgaria.
Levi is currently living, training, and auditioning in New York City. She is also preparing for a personal recital to be performed in Vancouver, British Columbia and New York City in February and March respectively as well as working towards her first professional recording. Levi is also very excited to be participating in the New York Opera Forum's Scenes Program in the spring of 2008.
